Dingwall Primary School is the centre for Deaf Education for pupils within travelling distance of Dingwall. All deaf pupils attending the school are integrated into mainstream classes, but spend some time in our Deaf Education base for activities such as learning sign language and speech therapy. We use a total communication approach, which means a combination of signing and speech is used to communicate. The deaf pupils in the school are supported in the mainstream classes by teachers and learning support auxiliaries. This combination of in-class support and small group or individual tuition works very successfully. |
